FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE UPDATED: Action Long Island Convenes Regional Leaders to Discuss Future of Route 110 Corridor

MELVILLE, NY - June 22, 2026 - As major public and private investments reshape the Route 110 corridor, Action Long Island (ALI) will convene regional leaders on June 23 at 8:30am at Farmingdale State College to discuss the future of one of Long Island's most important business districts.

The invitation-only summit will focus on the issues shaping the corridor's future, including transportation, energy infrastructure, economic growth, workforce development, environmental sustainability, and the potential reopening of the Republic Airport train station. Suffolk County Executive Ed Romaine will share the County's perspective on future growth and investment along Route 110, while Suffolk County Transit will be on hand to present its plans for the corridor. Action Long Island has also confirmed that representatives of LIPA, NYPA, PSEG, GRID, LIRR, T-Mobile, Organized labor, the Town of Babylon, representatives from Washington, Albany, and Long Island will be at this meeting, as well as other important stakeholders.

"The decisions made about the Route 110 corridor in the coming years will help shape Long Island's future," said Shelly Sackstein, Board Chairperson of Action Long Island. "This summit is an opportunity for leaders from across sectors to come together, share perspectives, and help inform the next phase of growth and investment."

ALI will use findings from the summit to guide the work of four task forces focused on Energy, Environment, Economy, and Transportation. The task forces will develop recommendations to be presented at a public meeting in July, where residents, elected officials, and community stakeholders will have an opportunity to review and discuss the findings. Those recommendations will help inform ALI's ongoing efforts to advance regional priorities with local, state, and federal policymakers.
