FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Action Long Island Convenes Regional Leaders to Discuss Future of Route 110 Corridor

MELVILLE, NY - June 8, 2026 - As major public and private investments are preparing to reshape the NYS Route 110 corridor in Melville, Action Long Island (ALI), a Regional Powerhouse for over 45 years, has called for a by Invitation-Only Strategy Initiative to be held on June 23rd at 8:30am at Farmingdale State College (FSC) as Billions in Planned Development Reshape one of Long Island's Most Important Business Corridors.

The invitation-only Strategy Initiative will focus ALI’s engaged and concerned Task Force members on the issues shaping the corridor's future, including transportation, energy infrastructure, economic growth, workforce development, environmental sustainability, housing, schools in the surrounding area and the potential reopening of the Republic Airport train station. Opening remarks will be delivered by FSC President Dr. Robert Prezant, and Suffolk County Executive Ed Romaine will share the County's perspective on future growth and investment along NYS Route 110, while Suffolk County Commissioner of Transportation Elisa Picca will present Suffolk County's transportation vision for the corridor.

"The decisions that are about to be made about the NYS Route 110 Corridor in the coming years, if thoughtfully planned for, will help to shape Long Island's future," said Sheldon R. Sackstein, Board Chairperson of ALI. "This Initiative is an opportunity for leaders from across various sectors to come together, share perspectives, and help to plan for the next phase of growth and investment."

ALI will use findings from the Initiative as a call to Action, to guide our Task Force members in developing recommendations to be presented at a public meeting, where residents, businesses, elected officials, and community stakeholders will have an opportunity to review and discuss the findings. Those recommendations will help inform ALI's ongoing efforts to advance regional priorities with local, state, and federal policymakers and get more money for Long Island.
